Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Facebook, WhatsApp or LinkedIn API key?

No. There is no third-party API, login or paid setup. The page is fetched through our own server (to get past CORS) and the Open Graph tags are read right in your browser, then drawn as each network would. It's completely free.

Why does WhatsApp/Facebook still show my old image after I changed it?

Every network caches the card the first time a link is shared. After updating your tags, force a refresh with the Facebook Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn Post Inspector (linked above). WhatsApp pulls from Facebook's cache, so refreshing there usually fixes WhatsApp too.

What image size should I use for og:image?

1200×630 pixels (a 1.91:1 ratio) is the safe choice — it renders as a large, sharp card on Facebook, LinkedIn and WhatsApp. Images smaller than 600×315 are shown as a small thumbnail or dropped entirely.

My page is a React/SPA and shows no preview — why?

Some single-page apps inject their tags with JavaScript at runtime, so they aren't in the static HTML a crawler (or this tool) receives. Render the og: tags server-side or pre-render them so social crawlers can read them.

Does WhatsApp use Open Graph too?

Yes. WhatsApp reads the same og:title, og:description and og:image tags to build its in-chat link preview, falling back to <title> and the meta description when an og: tag is missing.
