Frequently asked questions

Is this gold price tracker free?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up, no API key and no limit on how many times you check it.

What is 24K, 22K and 18K gold?

The "K" (karat) measures purity out of 24 parts: 24K is 99.9%+ pure gold, 22K is 91.6% pure (the common jewellery standard in India), 18K is 75% pure, and 14K is 58.3% pure — the rest is other metals for strength.

Why is this price different from what my local jeweller quotes?

This tool shows the live international spot price only. A jeweller's actual selling price also adds making charges, wastage, and local taxes (like GST in India), so retail prices are typically higher than the spot price shown here.

How often does the price update?

The spot price is refreshed every few minutes from a live market data source and cached briefly on our server, so it stays close to real-time without hammering the upstream provider.

Why isn't silver included?

Live silver (XAG) pricing requires a paid plan from our free gold-price data source. To keep this tool completely free with no sign-up, only gold is shown for now.

What is a tola?

A tola is a traditional South Asian unit of weight equal to 11.6638 grams, still commonly used for gold pricing in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Does this show the price per troy ounce?

Yes — select "1 troy ounce" from the weight dropdown to see the standard international spot-price unit directly.
