How to use Mutual Fund NAV Checker

  1. Search a scheme

Type at least 3 letters of the fund name — e.g. "SBI Large Cap" or "HDFC Flexi Cap".

  2. Pick the exact plan

Choose the matching Direct/Regular, Growth/IDCW plan from the dropdown — each is tracked separately.

  3. Read the latest NAV

See today's NAV, the change from the previous day, and how far back the data goes.

  4. Compare returns

Check the 1M/3M/6M/1Y trailing return pills and the 1-year trend chart to see recent performance.

Understanding NAV & returns

Growth vs IDCW — which NAV should you track?

In a Growth plan, all profits stay invested and compound over time, so its NAV steadily reflects the fund's full performance. In an IDCW (dividend) plan, the fund pays out a portion of profit periodically, which drops the NAV each time a payout happens — so a lower or slower-rising NAV on an IDCW plan doesn't mean it performed worse. Compare returns only within the same plan type.

Direct vs Regular plan NAV

A Direct plan skips distributor commission, so it carries a lower expense ratio than the Regular plan of the exact same fund — over the long run, the Direct plan's NAV grows a little faster for that reason alone. Always double-check you've selected the plan you actually hold before comparing.

Why NAV alone doesn't tell you if a fund is "cheap" or "expensive"

A ₹10 NAV isn't automatically a better deal than a ₹500 NAV — the absolute number only reflects the fund's launch date and past growth, not its future potential. What matters for comparing two funds is the percentage return over the same period, not the NAV figure itself.

Reading the trailing return pills correctly

The 1M/3M/6M/1Y figures here are point-to-point NAV returns — the plain percentage change between two dates. They are not the same as a fund's official "annualised return" (CAGR) for periods over a year, and they don't factor in SIP instalment timing, entry/exit load, or tax. Use them as a quick performance snapshot, not a final number for tax or investment decisions.

Frequently asked questions

What is NAV in a mutual fund?

Net Asset Value (NAV) is the per-unit price of a mutual fund scheme — the total value of the fund's holdings minus liabilities, divided by the number of outstanding units. It's declared once a day after markets close.

How often is the NAV updated?

Indian mutual fund NAVs are declared once per business day, typically published by AMFI in the evening after markets close. There's no live intraday NAV.

Is this mutual fund NAV checker free?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up, no API key and no limit on how many funds you look up.

Where does this data come from?

NAV data mirrors AMFI's (Association of Mutual Funds in India) official daily NAV file via a free, community-run API. This is not an official AMFI or SEBI product.

Why do I see multiple results for the same fund name?

Each fund typically offers several plans — Direct vs Regular, and Growth vs IDCW (dividend) — and each plan has its own separate NAV and scheme code. Pick the exact plan you're invested in.

What does the 1-year return figure mean?

It's the point-to-point percentage change in NAV over the trailing period, using the closest available NAV to that date roughly a year back. It does not annualise, adjust for SIP cash flows, or account for loads/expense ratio changes.

Is a NAV checker the same as an investment recommendation?

No — this tool only shows historical NAV data and computed returns for information purposes. It is not investment advice; consult a qualified financial advisor before investing.
