Understanding your forecast

What "feels like" actually means

The feels-like (or apparent) temperature isn't a mistake or a rounding difference — it's the real air temperature adjusted for wind and humidity, i.e. how your skin actually experiences it. On a hot, humid day it can feel several degrees hotter than the thermometer reading because sweat evaporates more slowly; on a cold, windy day it can feel much colder because wind pulls heat away from your body faster.

Reading the rain percentage correctly

A common mix-up: the rain percentage is the chance that measurable rain falls at that location and hour — not how much of the sky will be cloudy, and not how much rain will fall. A 30% chance means that, out of many similar weather setups, it rained in roughly 3 out of 10 of them. Above 60–70% is usually worth carrying an umbrella; below 20% is generally safe to skip one.

Why forecasts change as the day gets closer

Weather models improve as the forecast date approaches because they have more recent real-world data to work from. A 7-day forecast is a good general guide for planning ahead, but treat the 24-hour view as the more reliable one — check back the morning of, especially for anything outdoors that depends on rain or wind.

Wind direction, explained simply

Wind direction tells you where the wind is blowing FROM, not where it's heading — so a "north wind" (N) blows from the north toward the south. This matters for things like which side of a building will feel breezier, or which way smoke, pollen or dust will drift.

Frequently asked questions

Is this weather forecast tool free?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up, no API key and no daily limit — it runs entirely in your browser.

How do I check the weather near me?

Tap My location and allow browser location access — the tool instantly shows the current conditions, hourly forecast and 7-day outlook for exactly where you are.

How accurate is the forecast?

Forecasts come from Open-Meteo, which blends multiple national weather models (including NOAA, DWD and ECMWF-based data) and is accurate to the same standard as most consumer weather apps, especially for the next 1–3 days.

How far ahead can I see the forecast?

This tool shows the next 24 hours in detail and a 7-day daily outlook (high/low temperature and rain chance) for any location.

Can I switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit?

Yes — use the °C / °F toggle above the search box. The current conditions, hourly strip and 7-day outlook all update instantly.

What does the percentage next to each day mean?

It's the chance of precipitation (rain or snow) for that hour or day — for example, 40% means a 40% chance of measurable precipitation.

Does this tool work for any country?

Yes — search any city worldwide. The underlying weather model covers the entire globe, not just a single country.

Why might this differ slightly from another weather app?

Different apps use different weather models and update cadences, so exact numbers can vary by a degree or two — the overall trend and condition (sunny, rainy, cloudy) should generally agree.
