WiFi / Network Info Viewer

See your connection type, speed, public IP, ISP and browser network details.

See everything your browser knows about your current network in one place: connection type (WiFi/4G/5G), effective speed class, estimated downlink and round-trip time, Data Saver status, online/offline state, plus your public IP address, ISP, country/city and browser/OS/device. Great for quickly diagnosing a 'why is this slow?' complaint or confirming what a visitor's network actually looks like. Runs fully in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Why does 'Connection type' say it's not available?

The Network Information API (navigator.connection) is currently Chromium-only — Chrome, Edge, Opera and Samsung Internet support it, but Firefox and Safari don't implement it at all. That's a browser limitation, not something this tool can work around.

Is the downlink/RTT figure a real speed test?

No — it's the browser's own internal estimate (used for things like adaptive image loading), not a measured download test against a file. Use the 'Download speed test' button above for an actual timed measurement instead.

How does the download speed test work — is it a third-party service?

No third party is involved. It downloads a fixed image file from this site's own server and times exactly how long that took, then computes Mbps from the real bytes-per-second. It reflects this specific route to this server, not a nationwide average.

Why did my public IP change since last time?

Most home and mobile connections use dynamic IPs that change periodically, or you may be on a VPN/proxy, a different WiFi network, or your carrier's mobile data instead of WiFi.

Does this show my private/local network IP?

No — browsers don't expose your local network IP (like 192.168.x.x) to web pages for privacy reasons. This shows your public-facing IP address only, as seen by the outside internet.

Is any of this sent to a server you run?

The connection/device details are read entirely from your own browser and never leave it. The public IP/ISP lookup calls a free, key-less third-party geolocation API directly from your browser — no data passes through our own servers.
